VISION STATEMENT

Empowering and inspiring our learners to be the very best they can be!

OUR CORE PURPOSE

With our Tamariki at the forefront of all we do, we will create a safe, inclusive and vibrant environment for our learning community, enabling people to reach their full potential socially, mentally and academically through collaborative, professional relationships, a curriculum lens and Hauora.

SCHOOL STATEMENT

Ravensbourne School was opened in 1877 and has a proud history. Situated just a few minutes' drive from Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Sports Stadium on the West Harbour on the way to Koputai | Port Chalmers, we have arguably the best view of any school in Ōtepoti ! Our spacious site allows plenty of scope for adventure-based learning, including trees, banks, a large grass field, tennis/netball courts and a playground.  A BMX bike track is in the development stages.

The school is a U1, decile 6, state co-educational school with a roll of approximately 17 students with 20% of students identifying as Māori and 5% identifying as Pacifica.

With the proximity to Port Otago, University of Otago, Otago Polytechnic and close to the city Ravensbourne School is representative of a wide socioeconomic group. Some families currently in attendance having been part of the school whānau for three generations!

Ravensbourne School is staffed for 1.4, with the Tumuaki | principal and release teacher working three and a half days per week. Ravensbourne School has two support staff - our Office Administrator and a Learning Assistant.

The Board of Trustees is a mixture of local community members, school whānau and staff.

Our classes are multi-level which allows students to make progress at the level that meets their specific learning needs.  We often use our local environment and opportunities to participate in learning outside of the classroom.  Tamariki | children are taught to swim throughout Terms 1 and 4 in our heated indoor swimming pool.  We are also fortunate enough to have an amazing Pump BMX Bike track on our grounds!

Our school values together with the whakatauki that was gifted to the school in 1923 and underpin all that we do.

School Values:
