OUR FACILITIES

Set over three hillside terraces overlooking the spectacular Otago Harbour, Ravensbourne School's classrooms and outdoor learning spaces offer inspiration and opportunity to learn and develop.

School Swimming Pool

The 20metre heated indoor swimming pool operates over the summer months of Term 1 and Term 4. Developing our tauira | students water confidence and safety is a learning priority in out physical education at the school. 
 

We work alongside JC swim school to provide regular expert tutored classes. 

Community and school whānau can also order a key to use the pool over the summer holidays and weekends.

Our Classrooms

Our school fosters a warm, modern classroom learning environment that encourages creativity and collaboration. With flexible seating, vibrant decor, and shared technology, our tauira | students encouraged to feel comfortable and inspired to engage, explore ideas, and develop essential skills for their future success.

Play and Sports Grounds

The papa tākaro | sports grounds of Ravensbourne School have long been a hub for community sport and recreation with netball courts, tennis courts, bike pump track and adventure playground. 

Given the proximity to Te Aka Otakou- the Otago Harbour share path and Dunedin Mountain bike network weaving through the Signal Hill Recreation Reserve - the kids at our school love to bike. This encouraged with regular bike day tuition and shared bikes in the playground to develop their bike-smarts and confidence

Mara kai | Edible gardens 

We take pride in providing outdoor classrooms environments for the tauira | students to explore food production and care for nature on the grounds our kura | school. We have a number of mara kai around the school including our orchard of hua rakau | fruit trees. 

Whare pukapuka | Library 

The school library is a vital resource for tamarki, offering a diverse collection of books, research materials, and digital resources. It provides a quiet space for tauira | students to study and collaborate and foster a love for reading to guide develop their unique interests.

The School Kitchen

The school kitchen is utilised to develop the tamariki | children's skills and confidence preparing delicious dishes for themselves and others. Learning values of nutrition, self-care, generosity and hospitality.

Each Friday a trio of ringawera | kitchen kids are guided to follow a recipe and utilise the in-season vegetables and fruits of the school's mara kai. The results and recipe are share with whānau in the school newsletter.
